This work is focused on motherhood. Particularly the repetitive actions, the accumulation of actions over time, the physical strength that is summoned in the act of care. It is a work that is about centering the domestic, the hidden, the private.
This work has two branches: process and product. The process actively seeks to bring down barriers for mothers and parents to work, to have spaces to connect with other mothers and parents, and to build kin networks with their children.
This is a work in progress of approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.
History of the work:
2019 Evergreen SPACES Rehearsal in Residence
2020 Dancers' Studio West Short Residency - Mentorship by Justine Chambers
2022 Research Grant funded by Alberta Foundation for the Arts - Mentorship by Justine Chambers
2023 Dancers' Studio West Creative Intensive - Mentorship by Rufi Oswaldo
2023 Project Grant funded by Calgary Arts Development - Collaboration with Julie Alatiit and Nikki Martens
